News-Blazer enables you to monitor your brand online. Using News-Blazer, you can keep track of how and where your brand is being used on the Internet. If necessary, News-Blazer allows you to take action against domain owners who are violating your rights or abusing your brand.
Setting Up News-Blazer
You can set up and configure your News-Blazer account using the News-Blazer Account Management page.
To Set Up a News-Blazer Account
- Log in to your Account Manager.
- From the Other Stuff menu, click News-Blazer Accounts.
- Click the Set up New Account hyperlink.
- From the Set up News-Blazer panel, select the News-Blazer account you want to set up.
- Click Activate Account.
The Welcome to News-Blazer page displays.
- Click Set Up Account.
The News-Blazer End User License Agreement displays.
- Click Accept.
- On the Define Brand Keywords and Contact Information page, complete the fields by specifying the key words you want to monitor and entering your company and personal information.
- Click Confirm.
- Review your information, and then click Save.
News-Blazer scans the Internet for sites that match your criteria. It sends you an email message once it has completed searching. Follow the instructions in your email message to log in to News-Blazer and review your results.
Viewing Your News-Blazer Results
Once you set up your News-Blazer account, you can review your News-Blazer reports and study individual incidents.
Your News-Blazer report lists all your News-Blazer incidents, including details and status in one, central location.
To Open Your News-Blazer Report
- Log in to your Account Manager.
- From the Other Stuff menu, click News-Blazer Accounts.
- Click the Launch hyperlink that is next to the account you want to review.
The Activity Overview displays. It is a summary of your latest News-Blazer activity.
- Click the Home button.
This is your News-Blazer report.
- Click an incident number to view details about a Web site listed in the report.
- By default, incidents are listed by rank. The higher the rank, the higher the supposed severity of the infringement(s). Click a column header to change the sorting order of the listed incidents.
Notifying Possible Brand Violators
You can use News-Blazer to take action against domain owners that you believe are abusing your brand or infringing on your trademark.
To Take Action Against Possible Brand Violators
- Log in to your Account Manager.
- From the Other Stuff menu, click News-Blazer Accounts.
- Click the Launch hyperlink that is next to the account you want to review.
The Activity Overview displays. It is a summary of your latest News-Blazer activity.
- Click the Home button.
This is your News-Blazer report.
- Click the incident number of the Web site in question.
- On the Incident Details page, click Contact Domain Owner.
- If you've taken the steps on this page to verify that your brand is being misused, click I Agree.
- Select the template you want to use to contact the domain owner.
- In the lower-right corner of the page, click Preview Letter.
- Click Send Letter.
Once you send an email massage to a domain owner, News-Blazer records this action on the Incident Details page. Here, you can track all information related to a particular incident.
Adding More Keywords to Your News-Blazer Account
If necessary, you can add additional keywords to your News-Blazer account. Additional keywords allow you to search for different variations of your brand name or other brand names associated with your company.
To add keywords to your News-Blazer account, you first need to purchase additional keyword credits. You can purchase additional keywords from within your News-Blazer management page.
To Add More Keywords to Your News-Blazer Account
- Log in to your Account Manager.
- From the Other Stuff menu, click News-Blazer Accounts.
- Click the Launch hyperlink for the account you want to add words to.
- Click the Options button.
- Click Add Keyword.
- Type the key word.
- When you are finished, click Save Options.
